2D / 3D OPTICAL MEASURING MACHINE – PROFILE PROJECTOR
This instrument has been part of our equipment for several years and plays an important role in the reverse-engineering phase, which is when there is a need to measure dimensions from an existing mechanical part without having the original technical drawing available.
This optical measurement system has high resolution and precision.
The basic principle is very simple: project an enlarged image of the profile of the piece onto a screen and then use the image to determine lengths and angles.
The mechanical part of interest is mounted on a precision measuring table, and the instrument, thanks to a light source and a complex system of lenses, collects the image of the object. The operator can thus measure the profile and proceed, through CAD/CAM management software, to generate a tool path for the production of the part in question.
